We had sat out in the sun watching the Twins win a baseball game all day, taken a short nap, eaten the best meal I’ve had in years and as I rolled my window down as we turned the corner onto Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas I realized that I was having the perfect day. The weather was phenomenal, I was never in a rush and never bored, I was hanging out with some good friends, I heard the news that my cousin had just gotten engaged, I enjoyed some amazing bbq and was headed to a movie to cap off the evening.
I didn’t have a care in the world. It was the 1st time since I had started my current job that I was able to put work out of my mind for a complete day while being out of town. Life simply felt peaceful.
